Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses summer reading with Rebecca Antill. Rebecca is the Youth Services Consultant here at the South Carolina State Library. She received her Master’s in Library and Information Science from Kent State University in Ohio, and has been working and volunteering in libraries since the age of eleven. Rebecca has worked in public libraries of all types in Ohio, North Carolina, and most recently Charleston, South Carolina.

Culturally Relevant Practices for Classroom Management - Episode 56

Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses educating African-American students and more with Dr. Gloria Swindler Boutte and Dr. Erin Miller. Dr. Boutte is a Professor at the USC College of Education’s Instruction and Teacher Education Department. She is the author of three books, has received more than $1.7M in grants, has more than 87 publications, and has presented her work internationally in China, Africa, Australia, South America, and Canada. She has served as a Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Scholar at several universities in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Erin Miller is an Assistant Professor of Language and Diversity in the Reading and Elementary Education Department at UNC Charlotte. She teaches undergraduate courses in elementary language arts methods and diversity in urban education.  She is currently serving as chair of the Early Childhood Education Assembly of the National Council of Teachers of English and investigating signs and symbols of whiteness with elementary aged children.

Global Studies with Dr. Agnes Mueller - Episode 51

Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses the University of South Carolina's new Global Studies major with program director, Dr. Agnes Mueller. Dr. Mueller received her M.A. from Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany and her Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University and is an expert on recent and contemporary German literature. She is a core faculty member in Comparative Literature and is also affiliated with Women's and Gender Studies and with Jewish Studies at the University of South Carolina. Her publications are on German-American relations, multicultural studies, gender issues in contemporary literature, German-Jewish studies, and Holocaust studies. Her 2004 anthology German Pop Culture: How "American" Is It? (Published by the University of Michigan Press) is widely used for teaching and research.

A Conversation with Sarah Blackman of Greenville’s Fine Arts Center

Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses Greenville's Fine Arts Center and more with Sarah Blackman. Sarah is a poet, fiction, and creative nonfiction author originally from Washington D.C. She graduated from Washington College with a BA in English, a minor in Creative Writing, and earned her MFA from the University of Alabama. Her poetry and prose have been published in a number of journals and magazines, including The Gettysburg Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, American Poetry Review, Conjunctions, Oxford American Magazine and The Missouri Review. Her debut collection of short fiction, Mother Box and Other Tales, won the FC2 Ronald Sukenick Innovative Fiction Prize in 2012. And her most recent novel, Hex, came out in 2016.

Make Space for Dr. Heather Moorefield-Lang - Episode 37

Dr. Curtis Rogers interviews Dr. Heather Moorefield-Lang about her research and work with makerspaces in libraries. Dr. Moorefield-Lang's research is focused in technology in education and libraries, specifically honing in on the narratives and uses of technology based tools in those settings. She is the currently the American Association of School Librarian’s Director for Region Four and member of the AASL Board of Directors. Heather continues her work integrating technology in libraries and classrooms under her brand Tech 15. Her current research involves exploring makerspaces in library settings around the world along with the policies, technologies, successes, and challenges that accompany those learning spaces.

Dr. Moorefield-Lang is a hands-on educator who strives to deliver real world experiences to her students whether they are face-to-face or online. Working with a wide range of teaching and instructional styles as well as with a tool box of technologies Moorefield-Lang hopes that her classes are informative and useful in practical settings. She teaches Information Technologies in the School Library Media Program at the University of South Carolina.
