Aïda Rogers - Episode 90

Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses South Carolina's rich literary heritage with Aïda Rogers. Aïda is a writer and editor whose feature journalism has won national and regional awards. She has worked in newspapers, television, and magazines and has coauthored Stop Where the Parking Lot's Full, a guidebook to South Carolina's favorite restaurants, and she also edited three volumes of State of the Heart: South Carolina Writers on the Places They Love published by the University of South Carolina Press. She has also worked closely with Writing South Carolina, which is a high school writing contest sponsored by the University of South Carolina Honors College. 

Dr. Bobby Donaldson - Episode 77

Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses the Columbia SC 63 initiative and State Library's exhibit with Dr. Bobby Donaldson. Professor Donaldson is an associate professor of history at the University of South Carolina and leads the Center for Civil Rights History and Research, housed in the Hollings Special Collections Library. He also serves as the lead scholar for Columbia SC 63: Our Story Matters, a documentary history initiative that chronicles the struggle for civil rights and social justice in Columbia.

Patricia Moore-Pastides - Episode 75

Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses the Mediterranean diet, the University of South Carolina President's House, and more with Patricia Moore-Pastides. Mrs. Moore-Pastides is the first lady of the University of South Carolina and is a successful public health professional, the author of three books, an accomplished cook and an advocate for many worthy causes. In addition to her role as first lady, which includes hosting events for the university throughout the year, health is her top priority. Her most recent work, At Home in the Heart of the Horseshoe, is a fascinating look at the University of South Carolina’s President’s House, a historic landmark in the center of the university’s original campus. Her previous books are Greek Revival: Cooking for Life (2010) and Greek Revival from the Garden: Growing and Cooking for Life (2013). Medical Librarianship with Ruth Riley - Episode 64

Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses medical librarianship, the USC School of Medicine Library, and more with Ruth Riley. Ruth has served as Director of Library Services at the USC School of Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina since 2000.  She has worked in three other academic health sciences libraries including the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Library, the Alfred Taubman Medical Library at the University of Michigan, and the J. Otto Lottes Health Sciences Library at the University of Missouri. Since 2012, Ruth has also served as the Assistant Dean for Executive Affairs at the USC School of Medicine. She is presently serving as Past-President of the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries and has served as Chair of the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association and Chair of the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries.

Global Studies with Dr. Agnes Mueller - Episode 51

Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses the University of South Carolina's new Global Studies major with program director, Dr. Agnes Mueller. Dr. Mueller received her M.A. from Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany and her Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University and is an expert on recent and contemporary German literature. She is a core faculty member in Comparative Literature and is also affiliated with Women's and Gender Studies and with Jewish Studies at the University of South Carolina. Her publications are on German-American relations, multicultural studies, gender issues in contemporary literature, German-Jewish studies, and Holocaust studies. Her 2004 anthology German Pop Culture: How "American" Is It? (Published by the University of Michigan Press) is widely used for teaching and research.
