Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses genetic genealogy with Richland Library staff members, Debbie Bloom, and Anita McCray. Debbie is the manager of the library's Walker Local and Family History Center in Columbia, South Carolina. She is a genealogist with an interest in family history and you can find out more about what she does at her blog, which is cleverly named, The Dead Librarian. Anita has been working for the library for the past 22 years and has been working on her own family history for the past 30 years and highly recommends listeners visit the ISOGG wiki to learn more about genetic genealogy.

Allen Hinnant, a traditional music advocate in Sumter, South Carolina, shares stories from his childhood and his experiences growing up in the fifties in the small town of Kingstree, South Carolina, with a caring family. He tells us how kindness and children’s books have guided him since then and also brought him clarity in the midst of confusion and stereotypes.

In part 3 of a three-part series, Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses assistive technology with Nancy Irwin. Nancy is from Columbia South Carolina and works for the state’s School for the Deaf and the Blind in their Division of Outreach Services as the Access Technology Specialist. Prior to working for the school, she was the JAWS Instructor for the SC Commission for the Blind. She also has a degree in Theater Technical Design from Winthrop University. She and her husband Billy have four guide dogs at home. Two are retired and two are active working guides.

In part 2 of a three-part series, Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses assistive technology with Dr. Carol Page. Dr. Page is the Program Director of the South Carolina Assistive Technology Program at the USC School of Medicine. She received her Ph.D. in speech-language pathology from the University of South Carolina, an Assistive Technology Professional certificate from the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America, and a Brain Injury Specialist certification from the Brain Injury Association of America. In addition, she is an Adjunct Faculty member for the University of South Carolina Communication Sciences and Disorders department. She also works closely with the USC School of Medicine Center for Disability Resources and has received a Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders (LEND) grant.

In part 1 of a three-part series, Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses assistive technology with Steve Cook. Steve is an Assistive Technology Consultant with the South Carolina Commission for the Blind. He chaired the planning committee for the 2009, 2010, and 2014 Assistive Technology Expos, which brought together disability coordinators from colleges, tech schools, and universities from across South Carolina. He also works with the SC Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind. Steve and his wife both have guide dogs and a Dachshund.
