Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses the Civil War letters of Augustine Thomas Smythe and more with Dr. W. Eric Emerson. Dr. Emerson is the director of the South Carolina Department of Archives and History in Columbia. His current book (along with co-editor Karen Stokes) is Days of Destruction: Augustine Thomas Smythe and the Civil War Siege of Charleston (University of South Carolina Press). He is also the author of Sons of Privilege: The Charleston Light Dragoons in the Civil War, co-editor of Faith, Valor, and Devotion: The Civil War Letters of William Porcher DuBose and A Confederate Englishman: The Civil War Letters of Henry Wemyss Feilden, and editor of Palmetto Profiles: The South Carolina Encyclopedia Guide to the South Carolina Hall of Fame.

Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses the Mediterranean diet, the University of South Carolina President's House, and more with Patricia Moore-Pastides. Mrs. Moore-Pastides is the first lady of the University of South Carolina and is a successful public health professional, the author of three books, an accomplished cook and an advocate for many worthy causes. In addition to her role as first lady, which includes hosting events for the university throughout the year, health is her top priority. Her most recent work, At Home in the Heart of the Horseshoe, is a fascinating look at the University of South Carolina’s President’s House, a historic landmark in the center of the university’s original campus. Her previous books are Greek Revival: Cooking for Life (2010) and Greek Revival from the Garden: Growing and Cooking for Life (2013). Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses writing and more with South Carolina author, Sheila Morris. Sheila’s published works include five nonfiction books; the most recent is Southern Perspectives on the Queer Movement: Committed to Home published by the University of South Carolina Press and released in December of 2017. She has an international following of her blog “I’ll Call It Like I See It.” She is also the recipient of the Human Rights Campaign Equality Award for her leadership and service to the South Carolina LGBTQ community and her first book, Deep in the Heart: A Memoir of Love and Longing won a Golden Crown Literary Society Award in 2008. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and has a master's degree from the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Curtis Rogers discusses poetry and more with South Carolina poet, Libby Bernardin. Libby has published two chapbooks, The Book of Myth (SC Poetry Initiative, 2009) and Layers of Song (Finishing Line Press, 2011). Her poems have appeared in Notre Dame Review, Asheville Poetry Review, Southern Poetry Review, Cairn, Kakalak, Pinesong, and the Poetry Society of South Carolina Yearbooks. She is a Life Member of the Board of Governors of the South Carolina Academy of Authors, and a member of the Poetry Society of South Carolina and the North Carolina Poetry Society. Her poem “Transmigration” was nominated for a 2017 Pushcart Prize.
